Army will be called for the assistance of civil administration in eight cities of Punjab during Ashura-e-Muharram to maintain peace and tranquillity in areas, where 120 points have been declared very sensitive.

"Army will assist the civil administration in Multan, Jhang, Dera Ghazi Khan and five other districts of Punjab to maintain peace and tranquillity during Muharram. Police would be deployed at 46 places in sensitive areas of Multan", said acting DPO Inkesar Hussain while presiding over a meeting here on Sunday.

"We have also called the Punjab Constabulary and Reserved Police force for patrolling in sensitive areas as more than 200 processions would be taken out in Multan city by the mourners," he added.

The Punjab government has imposed ban on black-listed religious scholars of all schools of thought for delivering their speeches and hurting the sentiments of any sect during Muharram, he said, adding the government has also prohibited their entry in other districts.

"We have restricted a number of Ulema, Zakireen, Moulvis who make provocative and objectionable speeches and banned their entry into other districts. We would not let any anyone to issue any "Fatwa" against rival sect nor let to use filthy language about the companions of Prophet (PBUH)," said Punjab CM's Advisor on religious affairs Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi while presiding over a meeting of religious scholars in Multan.

He said that Pakistan can no more afford sectarianism , killing of each other in the name of Islam and Shiites should not violate the code of ethics.

He said that more than 113 cities and town have been declared sensitive and fool-proof security measures are being taken to avert any eventuality.

Participants of mourning processions, meetings, and Majalis-i-Aza would be thoroughly checked with metal detectors while people would be asked to join the mourning sessions after passing through the security doors, he said , adding policemen in plain clothes would be deployed at railway stations, bus and van stands to keep an eye on the suspect.
